Instead, it recognizes coaches who embody the Six Pillars of Character:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Trustworthiness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responsibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fairness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citizenship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Beyond the Finish Line<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Coach De Zeeuw, widely known as &#8220;Coach DZ,&#8221; joins an elite group of Iowa mentors, following recent winners like Mount Vernon\u2019s Robin Brand and Pella\u2019s Jay McKinstrey. The award highlights a philosophy that MOC-Floyd Valley students and athletes have seen in action for years: that sportsmanship and integrity are just as important as speed and endurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether he is pacing the sidelines at a track meet, guiding runners through a grueling cross-country course, or leading a classroom discussion, Coach DZ\u2019s mission remains the same, building better people. His dedication ensures that his students graduate not just as better athletes, but as citizens of high character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Moment in the Spotlight<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The state officially recognized Coach De Zeeuw\u2019s impact on March 12, 2026.
